The Lady Raider softball squad opened their season on Monday, losing a 6-4 game to Adams Central at home. The Raiders can look at the box score and see how this one got away. The Raiders matched the number of walks they gave to the Jets with the number of fielding errors at 6. None of Adams Central's runs were of the earned variety. Junior Olivia Watson took the loss in this one. Watson gave up all 6 runs on only 4 hits but walked 5. Freshman Olivia Hinesley relieved her after 3 and 2 thirds innings and kept the Jets at bay the rest of the evening. Hinesley gave up 2 hits and walked 1 in her Raider debut. Offensively, junior Lydia Schwagmeier was the only Raider to collect 2 hits on the evening. Schwagmeier doubled home Aleyna Sharritts in the first after Sharritts has doubled right before her. Watson blasted a homerun over the right field fence for Shenandoah's only other extra base hit. Gabbi Patrick and Hinesley had the other Raider hits.
