The Raiders picked up their first 2 victories of the season on Saturday, defeating Union County 9-4 in game 1 and 17-16 in game 2. In game 1, the 2 teams were knotted at 3 apiece after 3 innings but SHS pushed across 3 in the 4th and 3 in the 5th to put the game away. Senior Ethan Loy started for the Raiders and gave up 3 runs over 3 innings before sophomore Maddux Davis came on to shut down the Patriot offense. Davis earned his first win of the season giving up a single run while scattering 4 hits over the final 4 innings. He was also 2 for 2 at the plate with a single and a double, scored 2 runs and had a stolen base. Loy contributed 2 hits of his own (single, triple) scored 2 runs and drove home 3. Game 2 was a wild one! The Raiders won this one in walk-off fashion as junior Collin Osenbaugh doubled home Ethan Loy in the bottom of the 7th inning. Loy had reached on a walk, stole second base and trotted home after Osenbaugh's shot down the right field line. This was necessary because the Raiders gave up an "8 spot" to the Patriots in the top of the 7th. Sophomore Micah Cole earned his first ever varsity win by getting the final 3 outs. Loy and Drew Fredenburg each scored 4 runs for the Raiders in this one. Osenbaugh and junior Ashton Renz both had 2 hits. Renz also had 3 RBI.
